Meet the artist
Meet the artist - Lark Dimond-Cates is the step-daughter of famed children's author Dr. Seuss and the sculptor of the Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden in Springfield Mass. where Theodor Geisel was born in 1904. Her work can also be found on the Island of Hawaii at the Keahole-Kona International Airport, the Old Globe Theater-Balboa Park San Diego, the Geisel Library at UCSD San Diego, Dartmouth College New Hampshire and the KU Medical Center in Kansas City Mo. Born in Kansas City Kansas, raised in La Jolla California, she earned a BFA at Stephens College, Columbia Mo. In 1984 she moved to Kailua-Kona Hawaii and began her career as an artist, first as a watercolorist and then as a sculptor focusing on Hawaiian subject matter and the ancient art of Hula. Now back in San Diego she continues to work as a sculptor and is currently working on a commission that will honor Dr. Seuss's father who for thirty years was the superintendent of Forest Park and its Zoo in Springfield Mass. This is a rare opportunity to purchase one of her Hawaii bronzes. Her Hawaiian work has not been available to the public in over fifteen years. When these sculptures are gone......that's it.
